Prompt announcement
For a long time, Japan experienced a stagnant economy where both prices and wages remained largely unchanged. Although prices have recently begun to rise, wages must grow even faster to sustain consumer spending and long-term economic expansion.
Design a comprehensive policy that ensures wages consistently outpace inflation, creating a healthy and sustainable cycle of economic growth driven by domestic demand.
Two rounds
Round 1 — Essay
Submit an original policy report in Japanese or English. The top 8 teams advance.
Round 2 — Finals
In-person presentations to judges in Tokyo. Presentations are in Japanese only.

Length
English: 2,000–2,500 words · Japanese: 5,000–6,000 characters
Content
Present an original policy proposal addressing the theme. Strong reports typically include:
- Analysis of the problem
- Proposed policy details
- Expected economic impact
- Feasibility of the proposal
Use of figures
Tables, graphs, charts, figures, and photographs are encouraged and do not count toward the word/character limit.
Citations
All data, statistics, quotations, and external images must be properly cited. Any standard style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) is fine — use it consistently.
